FoW is the Fissure of Woe, which is a high level area that contains the most expensive armor in the game. The armor is commonly referred to as fow armor.
The hydras drop the same junk that the Droks trolls drop. Don't expect to get any gold items off of them.

Yeah I farm there all the time with my elementalist using a earth ether renewal build. Basically I bring ward of stability so their meteors don't knock me down. That way I can take on a bunch of them without any problems at all!
As far as drops, I've gotten loads of gold items there. Recently not so many, but maybe that's just coincidence. I basically mix up my farming between hydras, minotaurs, trolls and even ettins still, so I don't get too bored! :P

I farm those Hydra's all the time.
You can get max stats on drops, but it's pretty rare.
If you go threw the whole zone in a big circle and end with the griffins your should get this result.
2k to 2.4k in gold
2k to 2.5k in items to sell to merchant.
You will get lots of weapon upgrades to salvage.
It takes about 40 min to do the circle, and averages out to 85 hydra's 12 griffons.

I used both sup strength and sup tactics. With a Crimson Carapace shield that gives bonuses while in stance. I use zealous sword but any max sword should do.

My R/Me farms them, either with a trapping + interrupting build, or an elemental resistance + interruption + marksmanship build.
Their drops are decent...a fair amount of golds/purples, and gold as well.

the fastest i gotta say is this one
16 Tactics
15 Strength
Auspicious Parry {E}
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Drunken Blow
Desperation Blow
Dolyak Signet
Healing Signet
Sprint
using auspicious parry, i can kill 3-4 hydras under a minute, i spam riposte over and over because of auspicous parry's adrenaline gain, and i spike several times with drunken and desp blow to add some more conditions, its not bad, works pretty good, but it gets a lil crazy when you get to 5-6 hydras, since the only thing keeping you alive is dolyak and healing signet

I reccomend farming the hyrdras outside Emberlight Camp instead... Better drops for sure, and a little more challanging. Don't take on more than three though.

Thats the Problem about the Mangoo Hydras? (think thats the name).. You can only take like 3.. Lucky if you get find 2 groups without getting pwed by Flesh Golems... With the Dessert Hydras you can take on many as you can aggro.. Witch is easy 10+

hmm, thanks for the replies, yea I found them easy the first time I did it, Ill check out the ones at Emberlight. Btw I used a 55 monk/war, is there any other place I should try? Is Fow doable with this char(prophecies only)?
Maybe Ill go try Tundra giants, just looking for the most rewarding.

I usually find hydra farming more profitable than the trolls. I seem to have more luck with them and do often get gold item drops (mainly useless caster weapons, but with useful mods every now and then).

That's roughly what I get as well. Runs are usually 40 Mins and can make 5-6K, just picking up gold and selling all items to the merchant. I tend to leave the griffons alone, they've had it rough in the past.
For me, it's on par with the vermin runs (in Factions) when I tend to get 2.5-3k for a 15-20 min run. Although, there's less gold item drops and less good mods to salvage. It's slightly quicker, but boredom sets in much sooner.
